About Bhimashankar Temple Karjat

The Bhimashankar Temple, located 110 km from Pune in Maharashtra, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is famous for its thick Shiva Lingam, earning it the name Moteshwar Mahadev. The temple's history traces back to a demon named Bhima, who was defeated by Shiva after causing chaos. The temple's architecture combines ancient and modern styles, featuring a large bell built by Nana Fadnavis. It is situated in a wildlife sanctuary, attracting both pilgrims and trekkers. The best time to visit is between August and February, with easy access via road and rail.

भीमाशंकर मंदिर पुणे से 110 किमी दूर पश्चिमी घाट के सह्याद्रि पर्वत पर स्थित है और यह एक प्रमुख ज्योतिर्लिंग है। यहां का शिवलिंग मोटा होने के कारण इसे मोटेश्वर महादेव भी कहा जाता है। मंदिर का इतिहास शिवपुराण में वर्णित है, जिसमें राक्षस भीम की कथा है, जिसे भगवान शिव ने हराया। मंदिर की वास्तुकला प्राचीन और आधुनिक शैली का मिश्रण है। यह क्षेत्र प्राकृतिक सुंदरता से भरपूर है और ट्रैकिंग के लिए भी प्रसिद्ध है। श्रद्धालुओं के लिए उचित आवास की व्यवस्था है और सर्वोत्तम यात्रा समय अगस्त से फरवरी है।
